Hsiao-Ning is leaving Monkey World
« on: August 17, 2012, 03:57:44 pm »
 :(

News just posted on facebook that Hsiao-Ning is leaving Monkey world for Rostock Zoo in Germany. She will be mixed with others of her own age as Monkey World have been having difficulties integrating her into the adult Orang groups.

I'm sure it will be very hard for those who have spent to much time with her to see her go.  :(
I do think this is for the best, and I'm really impressed that Monkey World is participating in the breeding programme in a bigger way like this. Wishing Ning a very comfortable and safe trip and luck with her new group and home.
Watching Hsiao-ning's antics was always among the highlights of my visits to MW, I have some lovely memories of this special girl. I look forward to seeing her in Germany one day, maybe even with her own baby.
Happy travels beautiful young lady!

Definitely! There were some people on facebook complaining that Monkey World had not made the right decision, but I think the staff there know her better than anyone else, and I'm glad that Monkey World is starting to become actively involved in the breeding programme instead of being a bit insular.

There will be many sad faces at MW tomorrow.  Glad JK will be there for a few days and maybe take a few pics for us all.   :)

That must have been a very difficult decision for MW, but I hope it will work out well for Hsaio-Ning, she is moving with Miri from Twycross who has always lived in an orangutan family group and seen her mother rear a baby so she is very well socialised and hopefully that will be reassuring for Hsaio-Ning.

I'm sure Monkey World did not make this decision lightly. I hope she has a safe journey and settles in well in her new home with her new friends.

I have been a Twycross visitor since I was a child (so 20+ years of visits!). Miri is a lovely, yet very head strong, girl who was mother reared. I hope that her and Hsiao-Ning will get on well. I hope their new boyfriend is ready for what is about to hit him!!  ;)

Saw Miri being sent off in the van tonight on Central News (ITV), can't find a link on their website to post.  She looked OK.   :)  She looked like she was in charge.

He'll look like Kai did soon after he moved into the nursery after Lingga had been in a hammock with him - shell-shocked!
