Some of the questions arent to do with monkeys!

1.Name all the monkey types
2.What type of monkey did we evolve from?

1) New World & Old World monkeys?

If not you might have to define exactly what you mean by 'types'!

1 - there are 264 types of monkey in the world so I won't list them all, just say Google I love you as always.  :)

Or they could be listed by family:

New World monkeys

Family Cebidae: marmosets, tamarins, capuchins and squirrel monkeys (56 species)
Family Aotidae: night monkeys, owl monkeys, douroucoulis (8 species)
Family Pitheciidae: titis, sakis and uakaris (41 species)
Family Atelidae: howler, spider and woolly monkeys (24 species)

Old World monkeys (135 species)

Superfamily Hominoidea: apes
Family Hylobatidae: gibbons ("lesser apes") (13 species)
Family Hominidae: great apes including humans (7 species)
2 - the original 'monkey' we evolved from is often calked Proconsul. It was the first group of primates to show both monkey and primate characteristics.  The species ranged in size from roughly the size of a gibbon to the size of a gorilla. They were arboreal but their teeth inparticular showed a change in  their dietary habits. (I didn't need google for this one).

3 - venomous snakes: Rattlesnake, cobra, Taipans, cottonmouths and Mambas.

4 - There is no one set of characteristics that define a monkey so I'll stick to behaviours:

Monkeys: eat, sleep, reproduce, defecate and breathe.

Sorry for the 2 posts I have a mare posting on my phone! Hope these are full enough answers for you  :)

A bit more detail on the proconsul teeth as I know you've been waiting with bated breath  ;)

It was the speed of the eruption of the teeth that showed that proconsul was in transition between monkey and ape. Monkey teeth erupt fast because monkeys generally lead much shorter lives that apes - maturing quicker and dying sooner. Proconsul teeth erupted faster than monkeys but not quite as fast as apes. The teeth also showed that their diet was similar to modern siamangs (lots of leaves) with evidence (I think through tooth enamel) that showed they also ate fruit like modern gibbons.
